Burnet volleyball takes the sweep at Gatesville

The Burnet High School volleyball program left Gatesville with sweeps of the Lady Hornets Sept. 16.
The varsity won 24-26, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.
“It was a great night for all three teams,” head coach Crystal Shipley said. “The varsity Lady Dawgs got a much-needed, well-overdo win in four sets. We tried some new things and it seemed to help the team gain confidence once again.”
Burnet (14-11, District 24-4A) was paced senior outside hitter McKenzie Davis with 11 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks followed by junior middle blocker Zaria Solis with 8 kills and 2 blocks, and junior outside hitter MaeSyn Gay added 7 kills , 5 blocks and 12 digs. Senior setter Lainey Rye had 16 assists.
The Lady Dawgs travel to Brownwood, 2100 Slayden Road, Tuesday, Sept. 20. Subvarsities take the court at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
Burnet begins district play at Lago Vista, 5185 Lohman Road, Friday, Sept. 23. Subvarsities play at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
